Olive oil

Low FODMAP olive oil with garlic or shallot brings a familiar flavour back to your kitchen. The fructans in garlic and onions dissolve in water, not in fat, so infused oil without any pieces is low FODMAP. Fody makes both oils in 250 ml bottles, certified by FODMAP Friendly, for frying, dressings, pasta and marinades. The garlic oil goes into our stuffed peppers, for example.

What to watch for in garlic oil

The FODMAPs in garlic and shallots are fructans. They dissolve in water but not in oil, so they stay in the pieces. Check the ingredient list for these:

  • Garlic
  • Shallots
  • Onions
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder

Frequently asked questions

Can I fry with the oil?

Yes, you use it like normal olive oil: fry vegetables in it, sweat rice or risotto, or drizzle it over roast vegetables, fish or pasta.

Garlic or shallot oil?

The garlic olive oil has a strong garlic taste and replaces the garlic clove. The shallot olive oil is milder and brings the flavour of a chopped shallot or onion.

Are the oils certified?

Yes, both are certified low FODMAP by FODMAP Friendly. It is extra virgin olive oil from Italy, vegan and gluten-free, in 250 ml bottles.
