FreeFOD

FreeFOD makes the Garlic Replacer and the Onion Replacer, two powders that stand in for garlic and onion. They are made from maltodextrin and natural flavouring, one 72 g pack is enough for 20 servings, and one teaspoon replaces a garlic clove or a medium onion. Both are certified by FODMAP Friendly. Our recipe for fondue and raclette shows how this works at the table.

What to watch for with onion and garlic

Onion and garlic are high in fructans, and even small amounts count. Also check the ingredient list for these:

  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Garlic salt
  • Vegetable powder
  • Shallots
  • Leek

Why FreeFOD works

  • A replacer: contains no real onion and no real garlic
  • Certified low FODMAP by FODMAP Friendly
  • 1 teaspoon replaces a medium onion or a garlic clove
  • Dissolves in water: add it with the liquid, not to hot oil
