Onions are high in fructans. If you follow a low FODMAP diet for IBS, you usually leave them out, and many dishes then lack flavour. FreeFOD Onion Replacer is an onion-flavoured powder for soups, sauces, curries, mince and dips. According to the manufacturer, it tastes more like raw onion than braised onion.
- Certified low FODMAP (FODMAP Friendly)
- According to the manufacturer, 1 teaspoon replaces 1 medium onion
- Contents: 72 g, equivalent to 20 onions
- Vegan and water-soluble
How to use it: Stir the powder into the liquid or straight into the mince mixture, but according to the manufacturer, not into oil. For a bolognese, brown the meat first and add the onion replacer with the tomatoes. For colour and bite, use the green tops of spring onions. There is more on this in our FODMAP list.
